Further Update: It’s been fixed and available on the Play Store.
Lately I’ve had some inquiries about problems Android users with JyotishTools Pro were finding the Prasna with GPS Location. Most of these have been from users with a phone with Android 14. However I could not replicate the problem and doing a search on “Android 14 bugs” turned up quite a bit of information some with GPS Location. Seems that some phones are coming with the Carrier Services turned off. This is most likely why the user is not get their current location when GPS Location is selected in JyotishTools Pro. If this is the case then go to the phone’s Settings and under Apps and Notifications scroll to Carrier Services and enable it if turned off. That may solve the problem. Also location sometimes may need need some priming. For this Google recommends users run the Maps app for that. Then GPS Location may work.
Devices are becoming more complex so remember I didn’t make the phone so you may need to inquire with your phone’s support.
Another point was some users thought that the Prasna function would do a proper Prasna for a remote query. For that instead of a Prasna create a new chart for the Prasna and enter the location of the person for the Prasna. Then you need to change the time to the current time at that location. You can do that by asking Google for the current time at the place. In some cases after doing this awhile some may just be able to do this mentally understanding the difference in the time zone and your current time.
In the past most Prasnas were done with the querist in person but these days with modern technology they may be done by phone or video calls. Prasna in Pro is for the querist in person.
Update: finding bug reports is often difficult unless you have the right search terms. Seems this problem was reported last year (2023) during Beta testing. It seemed to be hard to get Microsoft to fix it (BTW JyotishTools Pro is built using Xamarin which is owned by Microsoft). As far as I can tell it got fixed and the emulator image I’m using has the fix so that is why I couldn’t find any problem.
But here’s the thing, my experience shows that when you buy a new phone it may take a couple weeks to a month or so for the manufacturer to send the updates that will bring the Android version up to current (bug fixes). So be patience and this is why don’t recommend getting the latest and greatest until it’s been out a while.
