A week ago I uploaded the new version of JyotishTools Pro built with Microsoft’s MAUI framework (also used with Android and iOS versions). Some of the builds using MAUI ran into problems but those problems are gone with with the Windows version (I hope).
Unfortunately at this time the upload is still not available in the Microsoft Store. Before this usually took a couple hours for an update to be published and actually Microsoft also sent me an email saying it was available in the store. The 1.1.56 version is still there instead of 1.1.57. That version is two years old and built with the Xamarin framework. If you still are running it you’re not missing out much. The MAUI version uses WinUI instead of UWP layouts.
My main problem with the first upload was finding the “new” way to update screen shots. It still shows the old Xamarin ones. I located the method on a tech blog and uploaded the new screen shots if you go there now you will see the new screen shots but also still the old Xamarin version.
There have been numerous problems with Microsoft’s MAUI framework. They should have known they couldn’t redo the Xamarin framework when they first announced MAUI in 2020 on getting it done by fall. Instead it has taken over 4 years to get a somewhat usable version of MAUI. It’s not just me caught in a crunch but thousands of other app developers and companies.
I had planned to re-upload the app again but home renovations got in the way plus I have a policy of avoiding uploads that might arrive on weekends when astrology classes may be in operation. I’ll try again later today but only the version number is new.
