JyotishTools Pro for Android has been updated fixing a few annoying things. But there a few things that need attention but not what we call as “showstoppers” in the business. These are due to some flaws and lack of support from the .net MAUI framework that took the place of the Xamarin framework. So here are some tips and workarounds.
- GPS Location for Prasna. If you selected GPS Location in the Settings you would have been asked for a permission. Unlike the Xamarin version you have a choice between two settings, Precise and Approximate. Select Approximate. Precise takes time and usually used for directions while in motion. Approximate is within 1/3 of a mile or less of where you are. It will return “Last Known Location”.
- The slider on the transit screen doesn’t work for some reason when stretched charts are turned off. Originally it didn’t work for stretched either and I had replaced it with a couple buttons to change the date or time. For some reason automatically the slider began working in stretched. Seems though that many use stretched charts anyway but I will be looking into a solution for the un-stretched chart probably requiring help from the MAUI crew.
- Dashas are fixed so you won’t see the negative number for a date which sometimes occurs if you tap NOW. There is a rare possibility of a blank row but the only time I got it just touching or rolling it a little filled it in.
- The file and folder picker still doesn’t automatically give you an working location. I criticized Microsoft for not using Storage Access Framework which the Xamarin version did and much more user friendly. It’s not really a showstopper though.
I’m still looking for the solution to printing charts using glyphs on Android (works on iOS).
I need to move on to finalizing the iPhone version which has little needed work. The iPad version will follow.
